There's two main reasons, first it's a legal requirement for all residents of Canada and secondly it benefits you!​ Filing your taxes helps you establish a credit history, makes you eligible for potential refunds and government benefits.

We are open Monday to Friday from 10:00am-4:00pm for drop-offs only and Saturdays from 10:00am-3:00pm. We are located in Genesis Hall (54 Vine St). The last day our clinic will be open this year is April 30, 2026 as this is the Canadian tax filing deadline.

Our tax clinic is registered by the CRA as a Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). The eligibility criteria that they outline is that you have a modest income and a simple tax situation. If that describes your situation, then yes you are eligible!

Great question! Please take a look at the following list to bring with you when you come in to file your taxes.

• An approved means of identification

  • It should have a picture of you and include your Government name and your date of birth (e.g driver’s license)

• Social Insurance Number (SIN), and address if applicable. ​

• Spousal information (including legal name and date of birth)

  • Also, take a list of all your dependents, their exact date of birth, and SIN, if they have one. ​
