What's Next?

Updated: Apr 18, 2021

What exactly is the goal of the average man or woman on earth, beyond sustenance? We strive for the good life, some comforts including, a roof over our heads, three (3) square meals a day, maybe a car, a good family etc. Beyond all these we strive for fame, power, to be loved, to be praised, to exercise control over our environment etc.

To achieve these ends, some of us bury ourselves into books, into sports or even into business, into various vocations, we amass wealth, achieve all these targets and more and then one must ask what next?

Think of it - after you have lived a good life and achieved all you wanted, you are already less than 1% of the population of the world, what then happens next?

The greatest mistake a person can make is to believe that it all ends here.

We effectively delay the need to discuss answers to the What Next question by focusing on the next target, from chasing certificates, to marriage and family, to businesses and then old age is upon us and we start (or not) looking forward to death. But what happens next?

We spend so much time living that we forget or avoid to think about what happens after death. If there is a life after death, waiting to discover it after death will surely be too late for any preparation for it. What happens after death is determined by how we live our lives before death.

The only way to guarantee you know what comes next is to live your life now, according to the dictates of the one that controls the afterlife.

Otherwise, we end up working hard to earn a good life here and afterwards, find ourselves losing out after we die – and even while here discovering that we spend our energies focused on what does not take us beyond a hundred years.

The owner of the after life says we’ve all sinned and done terrible things. Hating others He likens to murder, lusting and pornography, He likens to adultery. His expectations of us are quite different from the standards we set for ourselves as mankind. The earlier we align ourselves with His guidelines, the earlier we can predict what comes next for us. He said to even qualify for entry into afterlife, we need to accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, believe He died for us and live our lives for Him from now.

If you would like to accept him as your Lord and Saviour, all you need to do is pray like this and mean it in your heart.

Dear Jesus, I love You. I thank You for dying for me on the cross. I know You are alive in Heaven. I receive You now as my Saviour. I thank You for taking away my sins.
